What is the difference between animal chiropractic and animal rehabilitation?
Chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper spinal alignment and nervous system function. Rehabilitation addresses the surrounding muscles, soft tissues, and movement patterns that support the spine and joints. At In Stride Chiropractic the two are used together because they are more effective in combination than either is alone.
Does my animal need a veterinary authorization for rehabilitation?
Yes. Texas law requires a veterinarian to authorize care before treatment can begin. We work directly with your vet's office to make the process as simple as possible and are happy to help if you run into any questions along the way.
How long does a rehabilitation program typically last?
Every animal is different. The length of a rehabilitation program depends on the condition being addressed, the animal's starting point, and how consistently the home exercise program is followed between visits. Dr. Katie will give you a realistic picture of what to expect during the first visit.
Can rehabilitation help my animal if they have already had surgery?
Yes. Post-surgical rehabilitation is one of the most common and impactful applications of animal rehabilitation care. Dr. Katie works alongside your veterinarian to make sure the rehabilitation plan supports and complements the surgical outcome.
Do you offer rehabilitation for horses as well as dogs?
Yes. Dr. Katie works with both dogs and horses. Rehabilitation techniques are adapted for each species and each individual animal based on their condition, size, and goals.
What does the home exercise program look like?
Dr. Katie will walk you through a customized set of exercises and supportive techniques you can do at home between visits. These are specific to your animal's condition and progress, and Dr. Katie will adjust them as your animal responds and improves.
